Ankle joint is a weight bearing joint of your legs. The bottom of your foot has the highest amount of receptors which help with balance and proprioception. Your foot and ankle are made of 26 bones, 33 joints and more than 100 muscles. One quarter of bones of your body are in your feet so when your foot is out of alignment so is your whole body. For example, individuals with supinated (high arch) or pronated (flat foot) feet display difficulties in balance compared to individuals with neutral foot alignment.
