Cupping therapy is a non-invasive, alternative treatment technique, which traces its roots into the ancient times. Special cups are placed on the skin, which then helps create negative pressure and suction force.

Cupping Therapy
Specialized cups, ranging from 1-3 inches across the opening, are made of plastic or rubber. Each cup has a valve on top. Once placed on the skin, a vacuum is created with the valve. Rubber cups are beneficial since they adapt to uneven surfaces and bony areas. You can use lotion to lubricate the skin which also helps move the cups across the skin. Some skin irritation and redness is to be expected, varying from mild redness to bruising, which dissipates within a few days.

 Treatments can be painful.

Time Period: between 5 to 15 minutes

 Contraindications to Cupping
· Pregnancy
· Bleeding disorders
· Skin infections
· Chronic systemic inflammation

Note: Cupping therapy can create marks on the skin, bruising that can remain up to 15 days
