Special cups are placed on the skin, which then helps create negative pressure and suction force. Each cup has a valve on top. Once placed on the skin, a vacuum is created with the valve. Rubber cups are beneficial since they adapt to uneven surfaces and bony areas. You can use lotion to lubricate the skin which also helps move the cups across the skin. Some skin irritation and redness is to be expected, varying from mild redness to bruising, which dissipates within a few days.
